Internship Training in Life Sciences


The internship programme at Savitr Bioscience is designed to prepare students for the next step in their professional journey. Each internship programme is custom-designed to bridge the gap between theory and real-world applications for life science students, especially from Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or any other life science discipline.


Why Internship Training at Savitr Bioscience?


Many students’ complete internships where the majority of their time is spent attending presentations, watching demonstrations and finally obtaining a completion certificate. These programs may meet academic requirements, but they frequently offer little exposure to real-world situations.

Students are encouraged to carry out lab procedures under the supervision of experts, comprehend the scientific principles of each experiment, and gain the self-assurance necessary to operate independently in a lab setting.

Medical Microbiology Internship (Code: SAVMM1)

Duration: 3 Weeks (60 Hours)
Eligibility: FYUGP students pursuing Microbiology, Biotechnology, Zoology, and related disciplines

About the Programme

The Medical Microbiology Internship provides structured hands-on training in clinical microbiology laboratory practices. Participants gain practical experience in processing clinical specimens, bacterial isolation and identification, staining techniques, biochemical characterisation, culture-based diagnostics, immunological assays, and laboratory biosafety.

Food Microbiology Internship (Code: SAVFM2)

Duration: 5 Weeks (120 Hours)
Eligibility: FYUGP students pursuing Microbiology, Biotechnology, Food Technology, and related disciplines

About the Programme

This internship focuses on the principles and applications of food safety microbiology. Students receive practical training in food sampling, isolation and identification of foodborne microorganisms, microbiological quality analysis, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, molecular diagnostic techniques, and internationally recognised food safety practices, including HACCP and ISO quality systems.

Phytochemistry Internship (Code: SAVPC3)

Duration: 3 Weeks (60 Hours)
Eligibility: FYUGP students pursuing Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Botany, and related disciplines

About the Programme

The Phytochemistry Internship offers specialised laboratory training in the extraction, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and biological in vitro evaluation of plant-derived bioactive compounds. Participants also gain exposure to bioinformatics-based approaches while studying secondary metabolites and their therapeutic potential, providing an integrated understanding of natural product research.

Microbiology & Molecular Diagnostics Internship (Code:SAVM4)

Duration: 4 Weeks (120 Hours)

About the Programme

This integrated internship combines classical microbiology with modern molecular diagnostic techniques. The programme provides comprehensive practical training in microbial isolation, phenotypic profiling, molecular biology techniques, genomic characterisation, and bioinformatics applications, preparing students for research, diagnostics, and biotechnology laboratories.

Biotechnology with Antimicrobial Resistance Internship (Code:SAVBT5)

Duration: 4 Weeks (120 Hours)
Eligibility: FYUGP students pursuing Microbiology, Biotechnology, Zoology, and related disciplines

Location: Kochi, Kerala

About the Programme

This advanced internship provides intensive practical training in the phenotypic and molecular detection of antimicrobial resistance. Participants perform bacterial isolation, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) determination, DNA extraction, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), and molecular characterisation of resistant microorganisms, with emphasis on scientific analysis and interpretation of laboratory data.


Summer Research Internships


Summer internships run for 6–12 weeks, timed to align with the May–July academic break. These programs are ideal for BSc and MSc students in microbiology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or any related field who want intensive lab exposure without disrupting their semester schedule. 

Interns work on defined mini-projects covering microbial culture techniques - isolation, streaking, serial dilution, colony counting - alongside molecular biology workflows. Internship programs provide hands-on experience in research projects, and each participant receives a completion certificate documenting the techniques mastered and the project completed. 

Eligibility: Students who have completed at least one year of a bachelor's degree in a life sciences or related field. Basic knowledge of microbiology and biology fundamentals is required.

Winter Internship Programs


Winter programs offer a condensed 4–8 week training window during the December–January break. These are structured around focused specialisation areas such as food microbiology, medical microbiology, or plant biotechnology, allowing students to build depth in a specific domain rather than breadth. 

Skill Development Workshops are part of the training programs offered during winter sessions, and workshops include expert interaction sessions for students and faculty, connecting interns to working scientists and industry professionals.



Certificate Of Completion


After successfully completing the internship training programme, candidates will be awarded a Completion Certificate. The Certificate of Completion offered by Savitr Bioscience comes with the assurance of a well-structured internship programme and practical laboratory training.

When students apply for jobs, postgraduate programmes, fellowships, or research opportunities, they are often asked about their laboratory experience, and a certificate of completion with practical know-how will help them stand out from the rest.

It enables them to effectively communicate their laboratory skills and share knowledge on experiments, procedures, documentation, and research practices that they have learned during the internship programme.
